how long does it take to get a response once I send a booking request?
We typically respond as soon as we have time, but it may take a couple of days to hear back from your artist. Don’t forget to check your junk mail folder, as well!
Can I bring a guest?
You may bring 1 guest to keep you company or for “moral support.” No kids, though.
How do I get something drawn or designed?
Drawing and designing are part of the appointment process. We won’t draw anything until an appointment has been set. Drawings and designs are made available the day of the appointment. It is important to work with an artist whose work you admire, and whose artistic tastes you trust, because sometimes, we just draw it on! Drawing and designing, aside from the initial consultation, is not a very interactive process, with drafts and/or revisions.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Contact the artist you are hoping to get work from by following the prompts on their “artist” page.
What is a Scheduling Fee
A scheduling fee is a means of securing an appointment time on our schedules. It is non-refundable, and non-transferable. It is necessary to keep our schedules as ironclad as possible, which is essential since we work by appointment only. Your fee entitles you to a set time that is yours and yours alone.
How should I take care of my Tattoo?
taking care of your tattoo is deceptively simple. All that is required is for you to gently clean your tattoo 3-4 times a day, using soapy water (unscented antibacterial soap is recommended). after cleaning your tattoo, pat it dry and apply some unscented lotion. no ointments or creams are necessary! if it itches, try smacking it, but whatever you do, do not pick at the scab (usually just a thin layer of skin).
How should I prepare for my Tattoo?
Sleep well the night before, it will help you be more relaxed during your tattoo.
Drink plenty of water, so your skin will be well hydrated (we can tell who drinks more water by how their skin reacts to the tattoo process).
Eat before your appointment to avoid any dips in your blood sugar.
Don’t drench your skin with lotion, or self tanner. Don’t get a sunburn.
Do you do Cover Ups?
At our discretion. We are very picky about which ones we take on. Someone could make a living doing ONLY cover ups, but that isn’t what most of us want to do.
Do Tattoos hurt?
Not at all. But yes. Everyone is different, every part of the body can be different, and there can be a difference depending on Right side vs Left side. It is typically a very small pain, just over and over, and typically doesn’t get too severe until you have been at it for a few hours.
Can I get a tattoo when I’m sick?
No. Go eat some soup. Don’t come around us.
What if I have a skin condition?
We want the area to be tattooed to be free of bruising, scabbing, rashes, sores, blisters, or warts. Many skin conditions get worse when your immune system is compromised, so we definitely recommend getting through any flare-ups before considering a tattoo.
How old do you have to be to get a Tattoo?
In the state of Texas, we are prohibited from tattooing anyone under 18, with or without parental consent. You can be too young, but never too old.
Can I bring my own design?
Yes! As long as we think it will make a good tattoo, we will do your design. We do our best to not copy another artist’s designs (unless we are talking classical art imagery), so if you bring us someone else’s art, expect us to make changes.
What is your minimum?
Typically about an hour of work, which may vary from artist to artist.
How do you charge?
We like to get paid for the amount of time that we work, so most of us charge by the hour. Artists may charge a flat rate on original designs or for loyal clients, at their discretion. Hourly rates differ from artist to artist. We take cash or card.
Can we use a numbing cream or spray?
Topical numbing products can affect how the skin behaves, so we do not recommend or use them typically.
What if I have diabetes?
You can still get a tattoo! You just want to eat before your tattoo, and be prepared for a sugar drop. Some medications can make you bleed a bit more, but it usually isn’t a big deal. If your diabetes is severe or unchecked, it is best to avoid lower extremities.
Does it matter what time of year I get a Tattoo?
Depending on location on the body or skin type, it might. It is best to tattoo feet in spring/summer so you can wear flip flops while it heals. Some peoples’ skin gets drier in the winter months, as well.
What should I wear to my Appointment?
Come dressed comfortably, in clothes that allow us easy access to the area to be tattooed. We obviously can’t tattoo an area covered by clothing. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained with ink/ointments. Some people like to bring a blanket.
When can I shave my tattoo?
Your tattoo will be healed in about 10 days to 2 weeks. We recommend not shaving until it is fully healed.
Can I tan?
We recommend taking a break from the sun or tanning as much as possible for 2 weeks before and after your tattoo. We won’t tattoo over sunburn, and we want your tattoo healed before resuming tanning. prolonged exposure to ultraviolet radiation will prematurely age your tattoo.
Do you do touch ups?
We touch up our own work, but rarely the work of others (that is at the discretion of the artist). Touch ups are generally at the initial rate, unless we deem it to be an issue with our application of the tattoo. Some parts of the body, we know are more likely to fade, so those are not guaranteed (hands, feet, knees and elbows).
Is tipping normal?
Yes, we accept tips and gratuities. There is no set rate, but they are always appreciated!
*Tipping may make it hurt less.
Do you take walk-ins?
We strive to create a one-on-one experience for our clients, so we work by appointment only most of the time. We take a select few walk-ins at this time, usually on Friday and Saturday afternoons (2pm-6pm).
How far do you book out?
Depending on our schedules, and what you are wanting to get, we may be able to get you in this week, but we typically book out anywhere from a week to six weeks in advance.
Do you offer piercings?
No, we just like to do pretty pictures.
